At 14:30 on April 9, 2019, the Shenzhen International Symposium on Graphene Industry was held in the City Exhibition Hall of Guangming District, Shenzhen. Mr. Andre Geim, the father of graphene and the Nobel Prize winner in physics, attended the symposium and gave a keynote speech on “Characteristics of Graphene Heat Management Technology”. Gu Yan, chairman of Matrass C-graphene, was invited to attend the symposium.

Two round tables were held at the symposium. The theme of the first roundtable was to explore the application technology of graphene industrialization, focusing on the application prospects of graphene in the field of 5G information technology, electronics and microelectronics, advanced manufacturing, and new energy; the theme of the second round table is about the latest development and progress in graphene research, the prospect of international market and cooperation in graphene industrialization, correlated information is shared by the big shots of the sector.

Gu Yan, vice chairman of China International Graphene Industry Union(CIGIU) and chairman of Matrass C-graphene, proposed that it is necessary to take into account the massive and low-cost industrial preparation of powder graphene when developing graphene industry, as regards the stable supply of raw materials and mineral sources for gaphene, it is determined by the different mineralization of the graphite deposits.Dr. Andre Geim and Dr. Xiao Xiaoyue both agreed with Chairman Gu. They said that the marketing and industrialization of the new materials of graphene are the same as other technology products, which takes time, but focusing on product quality control and stability from the beginning are critical.

Ruan Ruxiang, the standing vice president of CIGIU, proposed that 5G mobile communication is no longer a single wireless access technology, but a variety of new wireless access technologies combining with existing ones which characterize short time-lapse, high reliability and low power consumption, performances in smart phones such as signal strength, transmission rate and frequency will significantly improved, accordingly their components, from the core chip to the RF device, from the case material to the internal structure will usher in new changes; both mobile terminals and base stations boosts a large number of incremental demands on electromagnetic shielding and thermal conduction products. The superimposed process upgrade can bring about a significant increase in unit value, which will multiply the market scale of the electromagnetic shielding and thermal conduction industry in the 5G era. Compared with traditional materials such as aluminum alloy and copper alloy, high-performance graphene composites characterize light weight, high thermal conductivity, high emissivity and good processing performance, which determine graphene, the ideal solution and savior to the problem of electromagnetic shielding and heat dissipation.

The companies participating in this symposium are mainly from graphene technology R&D enterprises in Shenzhen, graphene preparation technology enterprises, and supporting facilities manufacturers in graphene industry.
